The Sacred Moment: Fine Art Landscape

Karen Florek curated the exhibition titled "The Sacred Moment" at Joshua Tree Art Gallery. It featured the work of seven devoted photographers who studied with guest artist Kenro Izu as part of The Palm Springs Photo Festival Workshops. Regular trips to Joshua Tree National Park at dawn and dusk inspired these artists to slow down and capture the spiritual qualities of this special place.

Kenro Izu (top photo) demonstrated the use of filters and longer exposures, which give his own work an ethereal feeling. Kenro has travelled all over the world visiting sacred sites with his large format camera. His equipment alone weighs  300 pounds. His work has been featured in series such as "Light Over Angkor" and "Sacred Places".

He used his photography sales to form a foundation, "Friends Without A Border" that cares for hospitalized children in Cambodia. Joshua Tree Art Gallery is located on Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree, just blocks from the entrance to the park.
